Introduction - 

Mac Flecknoe is one of the most famous satires. It is a poem written in mock of Shadwell , Dryden chose the high-sounding. Augusta as the name for the city. Shadwell is to rule as king of nonsense. Thomes Shadwell is the hero of this poem.

Main Character  -

   1 Richard Flecknoe - English poet (1600 -1678) . In this poem he played an roll of foolish emperor.

   2 Shadwell - He was an English poet & Laureate  known for his  broard comedy of manners Dryden Show him as a nonsense .

   3 Augustus - Roman empire, known as Octavius Caeser,adopted by Julius Caeser

Summary

Mac- Flacknoe ia the poet kind of the realm of nonsonse. After many years as ruler ,however it comes time for him to step down ultimately, he chooses his son Thomas Shadwell ,a poet of unparalleled droadfulness ,as his succassor Shadwell is the worst writer in all the land and thua the perfect man of the job.

Upon arriving in the city of Augusta Shadwell is second crowned king of the realm of nonsense. Mac-Flackno himself delivers a brief speech on his son's merits during the coronation.

At this point all the action pretty pretty  much stops , as the poem devolves in to a thinly -veiled ,full force condemnation of Shadwell's writing and character by the speaker . In the end crowned and ready to rule in his father's foot step Shadwell is poised to sink poetry to an even lower level.

दोनों कवियों ने अपने लेखन से एक दूसरे पर व्यंग्य किया है। शुरुआत में Jhon Dryden ने "Absalom and achitophel" लिखी इसके जवाब में

इस कविता में Macflacknoe नाम का एक राजा है जो बहुत बेवकूफ है। अब बूढ़ा हो गया है बह चाहता है की उनके शासन को चलाने के लिए एक योग्य शासक की आवश्यकता है। वह निर्णय करता है की उसका पुत्र Shadwell उसके राज्य का शासन भार संभालेगा। जिसका पेट निकला है, बहुत ही भद्दा है और बेवकूफ भी है।बजाय किसी अच्छे कवि की वह अपने पुत्र को ही चुनता है।उनके राजा बनने के बाद वह उस जगह को वैशाल्य में बदल देता है। और  उसके लिए नाटकों का आयोजन किया जाता है , जिसमें सारे थके हारे कलाकार ही पर्फोम करते हैं। इसमें वो नाटक शामिल हैं जो बच्चों को आसानी से समझ में आ सके।

यहाँ Jhon Dryden ने Shadwell की बेइज्जती करने में सारी हदें पार कर देते हैं। वो कहते हैं उनकी रचना किसी काम की नहीं हैं। वो सब बेकार है।वह कहता है राजा के शरीर की  मालिश तेल से की जाती है किंतु यहाँ तेल को Ale से बदल दिया है। उसके स्वागत में उसके द्वारा लिखी गई रचनाओं को बिछाया गया। और उसके हाथ से उल्लू उड़वाया गया।जिस जगह पर Shadwellराज करेगा उस जगह कोई भी नहीं रहता वो जगह खाली पड़ी है। राज्याभिषेक के समय Macflacknoe भाषण देता है वह कहता है तुम ऐसे ही लिखते रहना कभी भी बुद्धिमान मत बनना ।

इस कविता में Shadwell का मजाक बनाने में Jhon Dryden ने सारी हदें पार कर दी।
